Avalanches!

In Room 14 we have been learning to write explanations. Have a read of Hamish's informative explanation of avalanches.

An avalanche is a deadly big river of snow that tumbles down off the mountainside. Avalanches are caused by earthquakes or snowboards and skis. They can cause bad damage to a village nearby.

  1. That would be sooooo scary being on a mountain skiing if an avalanche started! Does New Zealand get many avalanches?

  2. We really liked the way you described an avalanche as a deadly big river. It makes us imagine it.
