In Room 14 we have been learning to write explanations. Have a read of Hamish's informative explanation of avalanches.
An avalanche is a deadly big river of snow that tumbles down off the mountainside. Avalanches are caused by earthquakes or snowboards and skis. They can cause bad damage to a village nearby.
We are a class of Year One students in the Ruahine team at Ashhurst School. We will be using our blog to share our learning with friends and family. Come back soon to see what we have been up to!
That would be sooooo scary being on a mountain skiing if an avalanche started! Does New Zealand get many avalanches?
ReplyDeleteWe really liked the way you described an avalanche as a deadly big river. It makes us imagine it.
